How would you explain your job to someone who doesn’t know VFX?
VFX covers a wide spectrum, from subtle tasks like cleaning up imperfections in a street to make it look pristine for a car commercial, to more complex work like fully replacing a car with CGI or making that car fly through outer space. My role as the Head of the Compositing Department is to oversee the final stage of the VFX pipeline. This is where all the visual elements like CGI, live-action footage, and various effects are seamlessly blended together to create the final image you see on screen.
But my job isn’t just technical. I’m also responsible for assembling the best team for each project, much like Nick Fury assembling the Avengers. I believe that the magic happens when you bring together different talents and perspectives. Whether it’s a big challenge or a small detail, I make sure my team feels supported and valued, because great work comes from a strong, connected crew. For me, it’s not just about getting things done, it’s about fostering an environment where everyone can bring their best selves and collaborate to create something truly special.
What does a day in the life look like?
Being a coffee enthusiast, I start my day with a freshly ground pour-over coffee it’s a must for me. Once I’m fueled up, I dive into reviewing the progress of ongoing projects and meet with my team to address any challenges or updates. Throughout the day, I ensure that the work we deliver meets our high standards.
What are some of your favorite projects? Why?
Nearly every single music video I’ve worked on at Ingenuity Studios are my favorite. The extremely short turnarounds and high levels of creativity involved create an intense, adrenaline fueled environment that I thrive in. It allows me to push the boundaries of creativity, where the rules are more flexible, and sometimes, making sense isn’t the priority and that’s the beauty of it.

What's something you wish people know about what you do?
I wish people knew that my role isn’t just about overseeing the technical and creative aspects, it’s also about mentoring and coaching my team, much like a sports coach. I focus on placing everyone in the right position to succeed, guiding and supporting them by understanding their strengths and ensuring they have the resources and environment they need to thrive. While many things are beyond our control, I work hard to provide our team with flexible working hours and the opportunity to enjoy life outside of work. As the saying goes, “We added years to life, now it’s time to add life to those years.” While we all love working in this field, it’s important to me that our team is present in their lives outside of work.
What is something that excites you about your career?
What excites me most about my career is the ability to bring imagination to life. The fact that we can create entire worlds and experiences that people have never seen before is incredibly fulfilling. VFX is a powerful tool in storytelling, and being part of that creative process, knowing that what we do can inspire and move audiences, keeps me passionate about this industry.

Are you learning anything new?
I’m always learning something new, both professionally and personally. In work, I’m constantly exploring new techniques and technologies in VFX to stay ahead of the curve. Personally, I’m learning to balance my career with fatherhood, which is a whole new challenge but also a rewarding journey.
What do you like to do with your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family. I also love to hike, LA is full of amazing trails to explore. I’m also a coffee enthusiast and enjoy cafe hopping to discover new spots. And when it comes to brunch, I’m all in and please don’t get me started on that!

What's the best advice you've ever received?
The best advice I’ve ever received is, “The grass is green where you water it.” This reminds me that success and fulfillment come from nurturing what you have, investing in your team, and making the most of the resources available to you. It’s about focusing on what you can control and doing your best in every situation.
