How would you explain your job to someone who doesn’t know VFX? 

As a character artist, my job is like digital sculpting. I create characters from the ground up and shape every detail until they come to life on screen. It’s rewarding to see them evolve from a simple model to a finished character.

What does a day in the life look like?

I start my day by checking for feedback or notes from my lead and addressing any technical issues. Most of the day is spent refining the characters and solving technical issues to make sure the characters look their best in the shot.

What are some of your favorite projects? Why?

My favorite projects are "The Nun II" and "Untamed", mainly because we made hero-level creatures for both. In "The Nun II", we worked on the goat demon and went through many iterations to get the fur and skin just right. For "Untamed", we created creatures like the black bear and deer, working hard to make them look as real and detailed as possible. It was very rewarding to see them go from the first version to the final result on screen.

What's something you wish people knew about what you do?

Most of the time, the characters we create are only on screen for a short moment. Even so, a lot of work goes into every detail. Each part is carefully adjusted and improved until it looks right.

What is something that excites you about your career?

Working on a new character always excites me because each one is unique and requires a different set of tools and approaches. Every project feels like a new creative challenge. Seeing our work come to life on the screen is also something that never gets old.

Are you learning anything new?

I’ve been spending a lot of time learning Unreal Engine 5 and have started integrating it into all my personal projects. It’s an impressive tool, and being able to render in real time has made the process much more efficient and enjoyable.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I like making personal art projects, mostly fan art with my own twist on each character. I also enjoy going to the gym to stay active.

What's the best advice you've ever received?

Always take notes on feedback. It’s easy to lose track of details, and keeping notes helps ensure consistency and makes the work feel more manageable.
