How would you explain your job to someone who doesn’t know VFX?
We take all the separately filmed or created elements and smush them together into one believable shot.
It's equal parts art, tech and obsessive nitpicking.
What does a day in the life look like?
My usual 0 to 5 involves checking in with supervisors and reviewing client notes, attending meetings, and finally ensuring shot continuity; fine tuning tiny details that most viewers will never consciously notice but would definitely miss if they weren't there.
What are some of your favorite projects? Why?
Loved working on One Piece, as I've been following it for a few years now. I also love working on music videos as I feel they are the most crazy and creative, I enjoyed all the Melanie Martinez videos we made, or the Coldplay/BTS a few years ago. Or projects with lots of crazy animals/creatures like La Brea or Hellraiser.

One Piece | Netflix
What's something you wish people knew about what you do?
It's crazy the amount of people and hours invested in a shot no longer than 2 seconds.
In my department, we can spend more than a month on just one heavy VFX shot, and there are several departments before us involved in the same sequence.
What is something that excites you about your career?
I love how VFX is the perfect mix of creativity, art and tech. Creating a solution as fast as you can, as clean as it can be and with a software that is constantly being updated... Is kind of a really satisfying feeling.
Are you learning anything new?
I like crafts, I've been into knitting lately. It's nice to get away from the screens.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Since moving to Vancouver, the outdoors lifestyle of the city dragged me to the mountains. I love camping in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.
