How would you explain your job to someone who doesn’t know VFX?
Camera tracking (or matchmove) is the job of figuring out exactly how a camera moved when a shot was filmed, so that CGI can be added to create the desired visual effects. Every shot is like a unique puzzle that requires a different approach to problem solving.
What does a day in the life look like?
Usually I am meticulously placing 2D tracking points and then creating a 3D-solve to overlay 3D geometry. We use several different programs to create a seamless camera or object track and occasionally do roto-animation to match human movements as well.
What are some of your favorite projects? Why?
It was pretty cool to work on "The Orville" and "One-Piece" I am a fan of Science-Fiction.

The Orville | Hulu
What's something you wish people knew about what you do?
I am an astro-photographer and I am passionate about the night sky.
What is something that excites you about your career?
Always working on new projects can be exciting, keeps things interesting with new challenges.
Are you learning anything new?
I am always trying to improve my skills in both photography and music production. Constantly researching new techniques and tricks.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I really enjoy getting outside of the city to observe and photograph the night sky or nature. I also enjoy music both listening or making music.
What's the best advice you've ever received?
"They say it's lonely at the top, in whatever you do
You always gotta watch the people around you
Nobody's invincible, no plan is foolproof
We all must meet our moment of truth"
