How would you explain your job to someone who doesn’t know VFX?
I support the talented individuals who create VFX magic. I often share our reels with others, explaining that much of what they see on the screen is skillfully crafted by dedicated artists working behind the scenes. I frequently quote, “The best visual effects are the ones you cannot see.”
What does a day in the life look like?
If there is anything this role has taught me, it is to embrace the unpredictable and be open to adapting. While I have consistent tasks that keep me grounded in routine, I also make space for “wild card” tasks that vary depending on business and team needs. On a typical day, I support employees, respond to inquiries, update company policies, plan engagement initiatives, and manage people systems like our HRIS, ATS, and Wiki. I collaborate with our talented Office Operations team to further foster our in-person and virtual work environments, encouraging curiosity and continuous improvement. I also lead company-wide meetings and partner with Leadership on internal communication.
I’ve been with Ingenuity for over eight years now, so much of my job is a combination of all of the roles and experiences that have led up to today. It’s not unusual for me to jump back into previous roles for temporary coverage or to offer insight or guidance to those now filling them. Aside from my administrative tasks, I frequently connect with team members, offering listening, guidance, and support. Overall, I strive to deliver my skills in ways that best support our team in the moment, whether at the individual, departmental, or company-wide level.
What are some of your favorite projects? Why?
My favorite projects are usually the ones that involve gatherings and coordinating celebrations. I enjoy seeing everyone have fun and connect, especially after months of preparation and planning. I have fond memories of planning our end of year holiday parties and milestone celebrations in the office, like when we hit a 100-employee count the first time.
As for studio projects, the 2018 Tiesto and Post Malone Music Video, Jackie Chan, sticks out to me and it’s still referred to with interns and in-person student tours. This was a unique project, with a wild timeline that offered a beautiful opportunity to see everyone working together to bring this project from concept to full delivery in a short period of time. Being a much smaller team at the time, we all squeezed into the screening room in LA to watch it and celebrated our work once it was complete. Although it was an incredible accomplishment, the edge-case timeline is likely not a sustainable model timeline for all projects, but we learned so much from this experience and it was a rewarding opportunity for me to support the team through the entire process!

What's something you wish people knew about what you do?
The workplace experience, while named in my title and the foundation of every decision and initiative I lead, is ultimately shaped by the collective actions and interactions of each team member. Ingenuity's culture goes beyond organized initiatives, enjoyable events, and smiling faces. While the tone of company culture is influenced by leadership, it equally consists of the unique contributions, teamwork, and meaningful interactions of every individual in the company. I see my role as leading our workplace culture while rallying others to leverage their unique experiences and contributions to further develop and foster the community.
There is significant value in our collective interactions as individuals. Each contribution helps create an environment where everyone can feel respected, included, and heard.
What is something that excites you about your career?
I am passionate about creating safe and welcoming environments for people, whether that be an office event or a team meeting. Additionally, I enjoy coaching and developing people, encouraging them to recognize and appreciate their unique strengths so that they can better identify and pursue their goals. Helping, guiding, and offering support are truly uplifting aspects of my job.
Are you learning anything new?
I recently completed a women led, 15-month, personal development program that focused on holistic wellness and sustainable leadership. The experience has equipped me with valuable information and practical tools to own my burnout and begin a new, sustainable path for living, working and leading. It has been a transformative journey involving changes in mindset, self-acceptance, and the development of new skills and beliefs about my personal and professional achievements. My commitment to learning and growth has had a positive impact on my life, family, and those I work with and lead.
As for learning anything new, I am continuing to develop as a woman leader and working towards some certifications while exploring ways to incorporate more fun and play into my life, such as through dance and other creative activities. I’ve recently begun taking Pilates reformer classes as part of my new adventures. It’s been both fun and challenging!
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love spending time outdoors and connecting with nature. Whether it's hiking, camping, or gardening, I always find it incredibly calming. I also enjoy neighborhood walks, runs and doing CrossFit. Exploring charming local shops, cozy coffee spots, and quaint cafes is one of my favorite ways to spend my personal time.
What's the best advice you've ever received?
Rest is a form of productivity. I've experienced burnout a few times in my life and have worked hard to recover by reframing my mindset about and relationship with rest. I used to power through everything, both in my work and in my personal life, took little to no breaks, kept busy to the point of physical pain and chronic stress. When I reframed what rest meant to me, it made all the difference in my life. I now prioritize rest so that I can show up for myself and others. This has improved my well-being and ultimately makes me a better human, coworker and leader.
